NCALA Assisted Living Activity Professional Program
Watch our Training Schedule page for training dates later this year. (You can read the DFS approval letter for our course here.)
The NCALA Assisted Living Activity Professional Program will help our provider members comply with Rule 10A NCAC 13F.0404, which requires that “… the activity professional hired on or after July 1, 2005 shall have completed or complete, within nine months of employment or assignment to the position, the basic activity course for assisted living activity directors offered by community colleges or a comparable activity course as determined by the Department based on instructional hours and content.” (Note: A person with a degree in recreational administration or a related field already meets this requirement, as does a person who completed the long-term care activity coordinator course of 48 hours or more through a community college before July 1, 2005.)
Class Details
NCALA’s Assisted Living Activity Professional Program will provide 50 hours of total training. It will consist of: 2 full days of classroom training, and field training with an assigned preceptor for 32 hours. With the exception of the kick-off meetings, training classes will be spread across the state, so most participants should not have lengthy drives or overnight stays while attending this program.
The fee for this is $325 (member rate) or $525 (non-member rate) per registrant. For information on becoming an NCALA member, go to our Membership Application page.
Please note that each NCALA Assisted Living Activity Professional Program registrant is required to start this program by attending a kick-off session.
